We were finishing up our diet Cokes and waiting to begin capturing mountain bikers when he silently flew over our heads and settled in the tree above us. I quietly snuck out of the car, put together my camera and snapped off a couple of frames before he got spooked and flew off in the fog.

Someone told me that seeing an owl in daylight means bad luck.

I beg to differ.

I think it’s a beautiful thing to see.
