oklahoma city, oklahoma

David and I took a little “trippette”, (a word my mom used to say when she and my dad would take an overnighter somewhere to get out of town for a bit) to Oklahoma City this last week. We toured the National Cowboy Museum (I liked the cowboy boots the best), visited the Arts District where every available wall was covered in colorful graffiti (it really was a feast of color, especially on an overcast day) before heading out to find the Skydance Bridge and city park, a pedestrian bridge with a massive sculpture in the shape of a scissored-tail flycatcher, the state bird of Oklahoma. When it gets dark, the sculpture lights up remotely and is quite a sight to behold.

We took far too many pictures of that thing.

The next morning saw us touring the Oklahoma Railway Museum that had cars you could walk around in, a reconstructed train depot and a refurbished caboose. My brother, a huge train enthusiast, would’ve loved it. Then we pointed our mighty Subaru east and fought the 60 mph winds all the way home. It was a good little “trippette”.

I put up a gallery on my projects site with more pictures if you’d like to take a look. Just click here: Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
